Diagnosis:

Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal softrays (total): 19-21; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft-rays: 17-21. Brown above, silvery white below lateral line; lobes of dorsal and anal fins black distally. Young with brownish black bands on sides.

Biology:

Found in coastal waters including estuaries. Feeds mainly on fish; juveniles prefer crustaceans. Popular game fish.

Max. size: 200.0 cm

Max.weight: 50 Kg

Environment: pelagic; depth range 0 - 50 m

Climate: subtropical; 47°N - 28°S
