Last night, we had really a super and great fishing tour on the White Marlin.

We left the harbour of Puerto Rico at 7 p.m for another `jigging tour` to catch the amberjack.

We fished on the reef of Rosario on a depth between 300 and 350 feet.
Special for the angler who known Gran Canaria:
The Rosario reef you will find about 5.5 miles out of the coast and in front of the cement-factory of Arquinequin.
The highest point of the reef sounds 150 feet. On both sides from this point it's going down till 1200 feet.
On the nautical chart we find on this reef also two small shipwrecks.
So now you can believe that this reef will be a Paradise for all sportfisher.

Last night, the sea current was okay, so we fished with jigs weigthing between 150 and 300 gram.
Before we start the jigging, we searched first on the sonar for a school of baitfish.
Because when there is baitfish, there is.............?

Jig down, till it touch the bottom, and spool in again, as fast as you can, till about 40 meters from the bottom and down again.
Up,down,up,down,up,down,up,down..........it really kills you.

Jigging for amberjack is really a sport for the fisher with super muscles.

I`m nearly sure, that the clients who known me, are laughing now and are thinking......muscles ?
Sure Hans caught nothing last night.

Sorry boys, but you are right. I caught nothing last night. I have only taken the photo's.

The heavily built greengrocer Stefan Does from Holland caught the first amberjack.
Now you will understand that I`m to old for this way of fishing.

Between 8.30 and 9.30, in twilight, we were most succesful.
Peter Zeestraten caught two 12 pounds amberjacks and also Stefan caught one 30 pounder more.

The winners last night were `jigging specialists` Hafed and Adrian, who caught the amberajcks if it were small mackerels.

Deckmate Alvero was last night the big looser. Maybe his turn is coming today.

Sportfisher who are interested in one of these `jigging tours` Please let me know by email so I will try to organise also a trip in your holiday.

Hans
