180 kg Blue Marlin

180 KILO / 400 lbs BLUE MARLIN RELEASED

78 boats fished today the 3rd and last day in the 18th Big Game Tournament of Gran Tarajal in Fuerteventura.
There has been caught during these 3 tournament days some Blue Marlins and White Marlins.

Also the boat EXPLORAMAR was succesful on this 3rd tournament day.
It was the Dutch fisherman Erik van Egmond who hooked up this morning at 9.15 a.m with a good sized Blue Marlin.
Erik needed 50 minutes to fight his billfish behind the boat.
The Blue Marlin has been estimated by the crew on a weight of 180 kilo/400 lbs.
I think that Eriks` fish was still a little heavier, but judge for yourself by seeing our Photo of the Day.

The EXPLORAMAR had after the release of this Blue Marlin, again any chance of a high ranking in the overall position.
The catch of only a Dorado or a Wahoo would be sufficient for the 1st place.
This didn't happen so unfortunately the EXPLORAMAR ended on the 5th place.
Because the 1st 5 boats all had caught one Blue Marlin, we can also speak of a shared 1st place <-;)

The above details have been given to me by telephone and so these are NOT the official totals, which we hope to know tonight after the prize giving. (10/09 - 23.00)

The CAVALIER was booked here in Puerto Rico by Einar Audenhus from Norway.
Einar who fished also last week with us, caught on his 1st trip a Wahoo and some Skipjack Tunas.
Today he fished with some friends on the Pasito Blanco reef and again they were very succesful.
Together they caught and released 2 Turtles, 2 Common Stingrays, 2 Roughtail Stingrays, 1 Eagle Ray and more than 35 Seabreams.
