700 LBS BLUE MARLIN LOST

We currently have a few days the Dutch angler Erik van Egmond back aboard the EXPLORAMAR.
Outside the catch of a nice 35 pounds Wahoo, it was yesterday for Erik a disappointing fishing trip.
Erik caught this good sized nice Wahoo when the boat was barely out of the harbor .

At 12.30 pm he hooked in with a Blue Marlin on the center rigger.
A Blue Marlin, estimated at more than 650 to 700 pounds, had his full weight thrown on the green / gold colored Tsumono lure.
This huge giant took in just 20 seconds over 500 meters line of the sceaming 80 lb. Shimano reel.
Quickly converted is this still 55 land mile per hour.
As soon as possible we rewinded the lines of the other rods and Erik could start the fight with his dream fish.................. or not?

Rarely, I have seen that a fish so quickly returned to the boat as this Blue Marlin.
With huge jumps and full speed was this Blue Marlin again within 30 seconds on the port side of the boat.
This Blue Marlin leap twice on his own line and that is to much even for the best and most expensive 80 lb nylon.
Bad, bad, bad luck...................................

After the lost Hawaiian lure we replace a "Blue Breakfast" from Black Bart and finished the trip without any more action.

Hans
