Barracuda_s Cavalier & Blue Marlin Sport Fishing Gran Canaria

The big game season 2021 has brought as so far for the boat Cavalier, 24 huge 600lb to 400 lb Bluefin tuna and 16 Blue Marlin.

But usually the number of caught marlins is above 50 after a `normal` season?
We can only guess at the cause of this.

When there was a volcanic eruption south of the Canary Island of El Hiero in 2011, the catches that season were also very disappointing.

After lots of unforgettable big game seasons, this year it is suddenly exactly the same as 10 years ago.

The volcano `Cumbre Vieja` on the Canary Island of La Palma has erupted this week.
Of course I`m not a volcanologist, but I do have the idea that our marlins don't like all that fire-breathing stuff at all?

After several tug days without significant catches, we fished on the bottom again today.

It turned out that at least the Barracudas were not bothered by the above story.
