BLUEFIN TUNA 263 kg/58/0 lbs

That makes a week, with moderate bottom fishing catches, immediately a good week.
Well well, today we had on the CAVALIER a great fishing day.

It was angler Nils Thorlak from Denmark who had chartered the CAVALIER today.
Yesterday there were already some Skipjacks caught and by the commercial boats there were also Bluefin Tunas spotted .
So why not to take this chance to catch your dreamfish............

At 13 pm Nils` dream came true.....
A giant Bluefin Tuna had taken the lure of the center rigger and the fish disappeared with "full speed" to the depth.
I was total flabbergasted and believe me...... In the 27 years time that I`m fishing on Gran Canaria, I`ve never seen a strike like this.
This fish took in less then 1 minute more than 800 meter line of the reel. wooooohhhhhhhhh.

It took for Nils ONLY 49 minutes to fish this `Super Bluefin Tuna` behind the deck of the CAVALIER.
Since May 2005 our boat record of the Bluefin Tuna was on name of J Shwinning from the USA.
Unfortunately that Nils` fish died behind the boat.
So we couldn't release this beautiful fish.

Nils his Bluefin Tuna was weighting 132 kg/291 lbs.
