A salmon caught on the River Tweed has broken records by becoming the largest in Scotland since 1928.

Shamus Jennings was on the Boleside beat near Galashiels with head boatman Nigel Fell when he caught the 50lb fish.

It was so big that it took nearly 45 minutes to catch, and it couldn't be weighed with the usual net.

The pair had to record its size on a piece of string, and asked a biologist to calculate its weight.
