A 30-year-old Brevard County man bitten by a shark near the Cocoa Beach Pier Tuesday afternoon is spending the night at Health First Cape Canaveral Hospital as he prepares for surgery Wednesday morning.

Doctors hope surgery will repair the damaged tendons in Bobby Baughman's right foot. Baughman, a fisherman and surfer, was bitten by a 5-foot shark about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. The crescent-shaped bite was several inches long and stretched from his toes and nearly reached his ankle.
